First save is impossible without a cancel of some sort. I hope you can jump cancel. Other than that, it's basically freebies up until the TASdrop.

I've been sticking with 8.1 for quite a while, and it looks like there's a lot of technical weird changes in Studio, but Studio has shaders and new functions as well as a lot more extensions on the gamemaker community, so I would suggest Studio to be your engine.

I think that the fix is simply redefining the fonts, as maybe they're seen as undefined by the game if left unchanged. Just mess around and click something for each font and it should work.

No, it *should* fix the problem by just making the changes to the init room. The init room view settings are used as like a base by the global variables to auto-set the screen size, so if there's a view in the room and then the view global variables that conflict, it'll change the screen size and cause that middle-set and screen size blinking.
