I like me them genres with one song under its belt; human sequencer, esoteric slow/speedcore, AcuticCore, "Only One Christmas Song" ( ).
Then there's them more known genres, like euphoric/progressive trance, IDM, complextro, (progressive) artcore, cyberpunk, goa, hardstyle, maybe splittercore, uplifting house.
Basically what Job JGB said; jump cancelling really is needed for only a minute amount of existing jumps, and said jumps generally aren't common in the average needle game.
Also, @BaronBlade, if I recall correctly, GameMaker can't process a press and a release on the same frame; one framing is pressing jump on one frame and releasing it on the next; also, the max jump height is somewhere in the 20s, seeing that the Leehe triple diamond requires a 19-frame jump to pass the first diamond.
Standard gate jumps can be done with 3- to 5-frame jumps if you don't include cactus.
Earlier I had the idea that you could implement a way to separate the size of a visible grid from the size of the grid you are using to place objects. As a person who doesn't use anything above an 8*8 pixel grid, enabling the grid for placing stuff really doesn't help at all since all I can see are just lines all over the place; having it so I can see a 16*16 pixel grid while placing objects on a 4*4 pixel grid would personally help me out, and maybe others too, as I can have a reference point for where things in the room are and still be able to see the room.
Of course, I haven't actually used this yet, so if visible grids aren't a thing and aren't gonna be a thing, ignore this.
