If Star is able to do this, it would probably be helpful if Sword has permission to edit the OP. At this point, he is probably more in control of this then me, since, like he said, I don't have much time to be involved in this community anymore.

Brute of a Man still seems too low. It should be above KtK3, since the current ver. of KtK3 has been beaten by a few, and all secrets seem to have been obtained already. Brute of a Man still doesn't have its own victor, and it took a mod to fix several impossible segments.


This is just my view on it. I approve of the rest of the list.

Two Brute of a Man jumps are impossible. Western players have tested them thoroughly. Maybe physics are different on Korean or Japanese computers?

Could you ask the 2 players who beat the game to record these jumps in I Wanna Record My Jumps, and upload the recording file?

Er yeah, the way jump-canceling works is kind of weird. It occurs by tricking the game into reading shift-releases without reading shift-presses. We aren't really fully sure what causes this (it seems to involve pressing and releasing shift in the same frame), but we know it's possible. To see how effective your program is though, I could send you some test jumps and see how low you're getting the Kid to jump.

I'm uploading it here instead of the wiki for now because I first want to see someone actually beat it. I designed this using calculations, which have been very reliable, but I'm sure some people would like more confidence in it being possible than my word.

So wait, you figured out how to make a game play while the window is not in focus? This has potential use. While playing a game that requires V-align knowledge (cough cough Brute unmodded), you could have up a reconstructed version in debug mode, working correctly even though it is not the focused window. This would let you see your character's V-align without directly altering anything in the original game. This could, for example, make things like the second screen of Leehe stage in Break 3 Makers 3 reasonable since V-align knowledge is really helpful for double inverts, not to mention anything that requires a bunny hop.

There's a lot I'd do to fix this list. I do have multiple ideas, and the suggestions on this thread so far have been good. The reason I haven't been updating this thread is because Sword and I have been trying to make a more accurate "starting place" for the list that will be better accustomed for our community before we get into the whole player feedback system, though that's been going slowly since I don't really have much free time anymore.

If I continue having as little free time as I have, I'll see if anyone else is willing to take over this list and give that person everyone that's been worked on so far.

Since a lot of people in the Western community disagree with various decisions in the Korean fangame difficulty list, which we have no influence over, I am going to try to maintain a list for our community. Rather than starting from scratch or using our own rating system, this list was originally copied from the Korean list, and we will edit it to reflect our different opinions. Our rating system will also be from 0-99, with 0 being completely trivial and 99 being arguably not humanly possible. Maybe later we can define better what these rankings mean and what factors should be considered in difficulty (difficulty of individual segments, total length, etc.).

This will be handled less formally than the Korean list (for now). It will be edited as people give suggestions rather than in massive updates. The way suggestions will work now is that players with suggestions (new games or changing current rankings) must give some amount of explanation for the opinion, and I’ll tentatively add it to the list. I give below my reasoning for my initial edits. If someone else disagrees with a decision, you can discuss here and hopefully come to a consensus. Please no troll games, one-jump games, absurdly bad games, etc. This list should be seen as a “suggested fangame” list for players for whatever level they seek, so having several good lv. 80 fangames is preferable to several bad lv. 80 fangames.

Hopefully, enough of you guys will give input here as you complete games to make this list thoroughly ours and not just a slight alteration to the Korean list. Throw in any fangames you feel deserve to be played with a suggested level, and of course critique games that are already here if you disagree with their positions.

See the Barrage: I figured I should add one fangame to the absolute bottom of the list. This seemed like a good choice for lv. 01 since it’s literally as easy as possible, but is worth including since it’s actually kind of cool and has a good reason for existing.

Brute: Game remains unbeaten, despite rather significant popularity. Last few segments could take extremely long time to beat, so 97 is rather arbitrary. As the furthest player in the game (with proof), I’m going on my instinct here, but I’ll adjust it based on my future progress. Note about mod is obvious. “Clear” changed to “Medium” since it has multiple difficulties.

Destination: Definitely harder than Kamilia 2, is as hard or harder than the other lv. 94 challenges.

Shrine Maiden 1: Tricky final boss, overall not particularly hard.

Shrine Maiden 2: I found this game harder than Kamilia 2, with multiple parts taking many hours (Yukari ~50 hours, Reimu ~100 hours). My Yukari time has been consistent with other players, though at least two players beat Reimu sub 10. These inconsistencies and lack of players who have won make pinning it down hard, but for now I won’t put it higher than 94.

Suffer: Rather tough to rate. Very few have beaten it despite being very well known. It’s not long but it has some really hard segments that will depend highly on the specific player.

Boshy: several difficulties lowered because general consensus that it is way over-ranked. I only lowered by a few levels though because Solgryn is a very difficult fight that takes many hours on one’s first playthrough.

Lunatic: Rather well known challenge that few have beaten. Most get stuck on the final boss, and, like LoveTrap, there’s an even harder true last boss. Rankings based on times taken to beat these bosses by various Japanese players.
