well for the block its the only way to check if the player is ontop, since you never truely collide with the block...as in overlapping. the issue you are talking about it easily fixed. but not many knows how.
what confuses me is why its coded like that for the water.

you can actually do the same thing with water blocks, because yuuutu cant code or something.

i mean...I know why it works...but not why he would leave in the thing that causes it.



I guess il explain how these work, basically the kid checks if he is colliding with an area that is the blocks hitbox raised by 1 pixel if he can do a single jump.
hence why it works on the damageblock (since its also technically a block for no reason). its valign dependent if you hadn't guessed from that.
its the same for the water. but why it checks for the 1 pixel up instead of the regular area is beyond me. especially since this means if you are touching the bottom pixel of the water. you will still have the speed limiter. but you cant jump.

Are you sure? I tested damage blocks in Butterfly Nova and you can't do anything like that in its engine. Maybe one engine just fucked up the damage blocks.

the ones in that game have the block parent removed, just like in mine and just act like player killers rather than solid blocks...which I have no idea why the fuck they are in yuuutu. it doesn't make sense.

To me it makes the most sense to call the character the kid unless the game specifies otherwise, think boshy or ktg.

One of the main reasons I saw this is that the guy makes appearances pretty regularly in fangames and is already an established character, making the kid have the tag of the guy also, just creates confusion.

I will post how to fix it then I guess.

Steps:
1. Install gamemaker 8.1
2. Press "windows key" + R to open "Run" window
(click to show/hide)
(or open Run window normally.)
3. put %appdata%\gamemaker and press enter, you should see this
(click to show/hide)
4. make a copy of "Rundata" file and put it in a seperate folder and keep a backup.
(click to show/hide)
5. when the error happens, copy the "rundata" file you have backed up in new folder.
and paste it into this main folder, overwriting the old one.
(click to show/hide)

I hope this helps. it is a little weird to do every time the error happens at first. but you get used to it and it only takes 5 seconds if you are fast ;3

Really nice game you got here.
Gameplay is simple but entertaining
Visually looks great although some of the ice area tiling seemed weird to my ocd because of the block bordering in some places but not others.
Would recommend.

if there is empty space in the mask the bullets wont collide with it, and with certain h alignments the bullets can pass through since they move over so many pixels every frame.

I'm not entirely happy with how unfinished my game is, and I couldn't find a good way of implementing the contest stuff that isn't just there to fulfill the requirement.
