Video Games / Re: Super Mario 3D World
« on: January 22, 2015, 12:48:12 PM »
Mario is impossible to play when you play guy games for a while.
I could play mario fine when I was like 5-8, tried super mario world the other day, 1-1 was frackin hard.... not kidding.

Engines / Re: Yuuutu engine with spike difficulty!
« on: January 17, 2015, 08:24:21 PM »
i don't see the point of this honestly. all you have to do is.

if global.difficulty = 0{
instance_destroy();
}

To make that happen.
Could just make a small thread as a tutorial rather than upload a full engine for a feature that isn't really used.

Gameplay & Discussion / Re: Diagonal Masks issue

Slopes are pretty complicated, there's a reason they aren't so used. all I can recommend is to look at I wanna be the engine Fork edition and try and work it out from there. because its really not so easy as using just different sized blocks....and explaining it past this point is just too much for me.

if you get the newest version of yuuutu (2.1)
there is an object called LiftBlock
i think maybe that's the kind of thing you are looking for.

Doesn't seem that hard.
Resolution renders it unplayable.

Programming Questions / Re: Issues with Supersound
« on: December 12, 2014, 04:39:32 AM »
Is there any particular reason you want to load all the music at the start? because that means every piece of audio will simultaneously take up memory at all times, its something you would normally want to avoid where possible.

Sounds like it might be what is causing the issue as a memory leak, but hard to say, because memory leaks are incredibly unpredictable in gamemaker.

Gameplay & Discussion / Re: On using controllers instead of keyboards
« on: November 23, 2014, 11:19:59 AM »
I use an xbox 360 controller, for binds I use

A = Left Shift
B = Right Shift
Dpad = arrow keys
Left bumper = R
Right Bumper = Left Shift
Left Trigger = Z (in games that require X to be used, this gets changed to X, such as iwbtGalaxy)
Right trigger = Z
Start = P
Select = Enter
X = S

you stupid fuck, level one in churatch is literally impossible to die to

I dunno man, when I was that skill level I would play by rebinding all of my unused keys to Q and slamming my head against the keyboard until I beat the game or gave up / woke up in hospital.

all piece told you to do is to use a decompiler which is kinda no.

Something I do, When using a few objects very frequently, say 1 set of spikes and the blocks, I take those specific ones out of their sub category folder and drop them to the top of the objects left above all the folders.
that way I can access them efficiently.
then when done with them just put them back.

try also to think about where you might want some extra of the same object in advance, its easier to delete ones placed that you don't need after all than it is to switch back to fix the gaps.
that second tip isn't so easy to take advantage of though, so I don't really do it that often.
