Sorry, we're not updating the game again. Windows 10 compatibility problems are difficult to fix especially when the game is as resource intensive as this one. Hopefully Cultured 2 will work better.

all the little things like titles, naming levels and menu screens are what I tend to enjoy designing most. Then the graphics, then the coding then the levels, in descending order.

Hah, it's pretty much the exact opposite for me.

I've come across this problem a lot when downloading japanese engines (and decompiling games)

If you have the same problem as I think you're having, try opening up the "Fonts" folder in game maker and double clicking/confirming all the fonts in there.

most engines are built around the 800x608 resolution as you don't get the annoying clipping of the last row of blocks

Unfortunately, this isn't true. All of the good engines (Yuuutu, Seph, Lemon) have the screen dimensions as 800x600. I don't know why, because it looks way better as 800x608.

My only problem with this is if you use vines in your RMJ map, since vines are not included in the KS engine for game maker studio.
