Video Games / Re: CS:GO Team?
« on: November 08, 2015, 02:57:40 PM »
I used to play CS:GO a lot, but gotten bored of it recently, and MM being in such a disarray at solo-que discourages me from playing, and only encourage those who either have friends to play with or trolls, smurfs, and cheaters.

Though, there are some here who still regulally play CS:GO

Sunbla
Zero-G
CasualCrap
Plynq
ChillingSpark
FlippyTheYoshi
Artardss

just to name a few.

Maybe you could ask them a few things about it, I really have no interest in hosting an 'official' CS:GO team.

Programming Questions / Re: S save sound effect stops stage music.
« on: October 24, 2015, 11:33:53 AM »
Sound effect can't be a MP3 or else it will overrride what is currently playing. Convert the sound effect to WAV and you'll stop having this problem.  :atkHappy:

While mobile is a bit better now because the avatars are smaller, there are still a lot of issues.  I really don't need to see browser/OS on a phone, and the way the avatars are separate from the posts looks really uncomfortable.  Also, the very top of the forums where it shows your avatar isn't centered, text still doesn't always wrap correctly, some of the buttons for formatting posts are broken, and the views and replies icons look really unfitting and are too big.  :cirPrise:

Can you take a picture and annotate where the problems appear so I can correctly troubleshoot the problem?

Why does this even need to be a thread...

it should already be common sense :Kappa:

Locked.

Well there are multiple choices for making multiplayer games in Studio. One is you could try making it yourself with Studio's built in functions or you could use a wrapper/extension to make it easier for you.

EZ Multiplayer was a project I worked on awhile back before Studio became a standard. This extension uses 39DLL and not the built in functions but still works and should do everything your asking.

Enhanced Networking Kit is a project I've been working on with a friend (or really hes been working on it without me), and it is a spiritual successor to EZ Multiplayer and was even called EZ Multiplayer 2 at one point, but dropped the name due to our new name being much better.

GMNet Engine was being integrated in to I Wanna Be The Engine KS Edition by me and Klazen before we both got caught up with other projects, don't know how far he got into it other than getting the basic functionality working.

I really haven't seen many other extensions that give you the freedom of how you structure your networking code than these three.

User-Made Creations / Re: I Wanna Kill The BLB [Shukuteki Tamatou]
« on: October 09, 2015, 04:03:07 PM »
So I decided to go play this game after seeing the shitstorm in this thread. And honestly I can't see the reason for the controversy. I'd like to mention that this reply is pointed at no one, and should no one get offended if I say something that may look like it's referencing or pointing fingers at some person.

This game is like a mix of Sudoku, 2doku, Cultured, with a decent boss, and comes together to make a game that makes fun of medleys. It's pretty decent, and the boss seems to have time put in it. Unfortunately though this games downfall comes from lack of graphic design in the platforming sections and non-functional soundtrack. The next time you make a game, I recommend you use a actual sound engine instead of using GameMaker's built in Music Engine because it doesn't really work well with a lot of music, or just at all.

Now this game is obviously satirical, and isn't that what some games have been? I mean, when Cultured came out did people complain about it? Actually, people DID complain about it. Mostly it's joking nature, and satirical boss fights. I'm probably a bit of a hypocrite when I say this because at the time I didn't like Cultured (and I still don't.), and at the time I was pretty salty about it and talked complete trash about the game.

But what I didn't do, is say the game is shit, without giving reasons, or an reasonable opinion, or ideas that would make their next game or current game better.

Everybody, has different opinions on games like this, and it is not my decision, nor the decision of one individual to speak for the entirety of the community because that is a opinion based statement until proved otherwise. Just because a large group of people do not like a curtain type of games doesn't mean you should go around telling a guy to kill themselves or write the game ofcourse, unless the game is 100% trolling, slandering of others, or completely poking fun at the community in a derogatory way.

There will always be things that people like that other people will not. That however, does NOT give you a reason to act like an asshole towards others. Something like that is immature and childish it will not be tolerated.

Temporary fix for JPG compression on Avatars. Forum should now be more viewable on mobile now thanks to klazen0108 for helping me find the CSS error in question.

Help, Suggestions & Feedback / Re: Eradicating spambots
« on: October 08, 2015, 09:01:25 PM »
I'll write a blog post if everyone is interested in my method of keeping spambots out since it has worked so far. (haven't had a spambot join in 2-3 months.) Though we still have spambots that haven't been deleted yet (around 10K+), and we are still looking to solve it.

Gameplay & Discussion / Re: Introducing Delicious-Fruit.com!
« on: October 05, 2015, 09:15:25 AM »
Any chance we can make it so the author can indicate the current version of their game which would display on the page and then add a page like https://www.delicious-fruit.com/ratings/game_version.php?id=15472 which would return just the current version number? This would let us check the game's current version whenever the player launches the game so we can tell them if they need to update or not.

It would probably just be easier to make your own download server from Dropbox or something. The current version thing sounds nice, but it a lot of work for Klazen to manage it all for any of it to be accurate. Unless Klazen decides to turn DelFruit into a site for uploading and downloading fangames too, I think this feature is better left out.
