NAMTG music crackling
« on: February 12, 2017, 09:58:42 AM »
I'm playing NAMTG a lot nowadays. However, every time I try to record/multitask(Playing&Watching twitch), or turn on any other process, the music crackles so much that it results in desyncing or be unbearable to hear.

The game itself maintains high fps(never went below 40 even when it had some lag spike issues), but the music always crackles. Anybody can suggest the way to fix this issue? Or the reason why this crackling happens?

Edit :
I tried to run the game with Administrator mode, which didn't help.
Also, my CPU is quad-core(i5-3230M, 2.60GHz), is it related to this issue?

Edit 2 :
This is the ONLY game I ever experienced this issue.
Also, after the test, I found that it's not the problem of this specific engine.

Method tried but didn't resolve this issue :
- Moving all BGMs except the part I will play
- Running as Administrator mode

sounds like your computer is pretty weak. a fangame should never dip under 50 fps even while doing stuff.

Oh, what I mean by "Lag spike issues" was steam downloading, which slows down pretty much any fangames. It was just a tool to show that NAMTG's framerate is always normal.

I had that same problem and did this and solved it. It didn't work for wolfie though but it's worth trying.

Just tried the method, unfortunately the problem stays the same.
Game ran at 50 fps smoothly, but music crackled so much that it desynced like 2~3 seconds.

Go into your task manager and find your CPU usage graph. Observe it when the music crackles and see if it dips during those parts. It should look like this if it's normal

If it doesn't look like that and has dips or spikes, it could be an issue of your CPU being throttled. That was the issue I was having with music crackling and a variety of strange lag issues in a number of games. My motherboard was throttling my CPU and replacing it fixed everything. Hopefully there's a better way around it for you but checking your CPU usage during the music crackling is something I'd recommend.

I think there's a possibility that it's the reason since it looked like this when playing Tower Lead with crackling :

However, after I observed my cpu when the music is not crackling, I doubt that's the reason because the graph was mostly the same as that.

Hmm, well for reference when I was having lag/crackling/unusual issues, my graph would look like this:

I noticed a consistent rate of dips and they were pretty major, which was ultimately the reason for all my issues. In your case I'd agree that I don't think this is the issue, as your graphs look fairly normal. On the bright side whatever the reason is, it's unlikely that you'll have to replace a major component of your computer.
