It's me or the sprite is from Ape Escape?

Gave up at the avoidance. I didn't really give it much of a go, so it's nothing bad (I actually liked the song pick + visuals a lot), they're just not my thing and something I don't care to spend time learning.

I thought it was a charming game that was fun, though it had quite a few flaws:

-The songs in the game are at such inconsistent volumes. Honestly some of these were ear-splittingly louder than others. Not only that but some of the songs are very short which means there's a lot of fading in and fading out.

-Save difficulty and save length varied wildly. Some saves in the last world that I played were as easy as in the first, and vice versa. I suppose overall the third level was harder than the first, but there's not much in it really, it was very inconsistent.

-Some screens were just full of moving images, flashing lights, animated sprites etc. It was just very cluttered and distracting, in the world before the avoidance particularly. Also vines are hard t see with the first world's tileset.

I liked it though. You have a nice style.

Thanks for the feedback! My speakers are terrible so its hard to find the right balances. I'll try and fix that. Do you happen to know what levels where louder?

I guess you can call it an avoidance, but its kinda a hybrid as you are supposed to shoot the leaves when they come down. Its only around 30 seconds long of a fight I believe so it shouldn't be too hard. Maybe I'll nerf it a little.

Was it mostly the purple and blue image color changing sprites that were distracting or the hearts too?

I'd recommend leveling the volume of every music track used in Audacity just in case you might miss one and just be more consistent overall.

Played to the start of stage five. This game shows a lot of promise, but there are a few things that need fixing. The first thing that strikes me is the spike sprites. Only the upward spikes are changed for some reason. Also, the spikes have black outlines, which doesn't work well when most backgrounds are mostly solid black. The only other visual problem is stage 4's tileset. It's just really disorienting. Otherwise, the game looks nice. The level design and difficulty curve need some work. The first three stages are relatively easy, but then stage four hits you with two low-frame jumps (https://imgur.com/OYxxvjK), which is a problem for newer players. Also, there was a point in stage two where I could just jump right to the goal from the first save. It wasn't even hard. The (first?) boss was pretty interesting, although I was kinda sad at how short it was. Oh, and the music in stage 3 (the one from Meltdown) needs to be lowered. Overall, this game could be really good if you just had a bunch of small fixes. (sorry about the text wall, haha)

Gonna be honest with you, with these tiles and this music, I feel as if I had just gotten brain cancer. Idk about anyone else, but I can't stand it. I just couldn't keep playing after a few screens of this, and if this was the first screen in the game, it would've ended up in my recycle bin within seconds. (only this stage btw)

Other than that so far, for a first fangame, this seems okay. The music is decent, but the platforming and graphics are nothing special, that's about all I can really think of to say with that. The first avoidance is very, well, weird. It's not really bad or good it's just odd to me, especially that last attack before the water. Don't let this discourage you though, Most first fangames are below average, keep game making and I'm sure you'll get a lot better over time.

Game is finished so if someone could move this out of unfinished that would be chill.

Updated original post with 1.0 build download and new screenshots. Theres a few minor changes that will come eventually, but my life is really hectic right now so not sure when I will get the chance to do it. 95% of players should not notice though.

Thanks everybody!
