Looks like there's a bug where the creator forgot to destroy the player and instead spawned a player2 and turned player into player2 as well.

I had a similar bug on (probably) The Guy boss in some other game. I was standing in the middle waiting for the battle to begin when the second Kid entered from the entrance on the left in a cutscene-like manner (or the other way around). Don't remember the title though.
