Game Maker is being difficult!
« on: June 20, 2014, 10:16:11 PM »
Hey everyone. I need help, I was screwing around with YoSniper's engine in GM 8.1. I added something and decided to playtest, but when I tried, it said, "Error Creating Stand-Alone: Cannot find Valid Runner Data" So I thought, 'Hmm.. Well I screwed up this project, I'd better delete it' So I deleted the "broken" project and retried with the eto engine, i didn't change anything and decided to playtest to see what I was getting myself into. The same thing happened. I reinstalled GM 8.1, it worked for about a week, but, then the same thing happened as before.. Can I please get some help here?  :atkCry:

Make the file RAR
Ignore this, it doesn't even make sense.

All I can say here is, anti-piracy measures.
Just pretend I have a cool picture like Zero.

It usually works for me if I get errors on the stand alone application I just convert it to a RAR file and all errors are gone

The only solution I know is to re-install GM8.1 when this error occurs.
One of my friends have re-installed GM8.1 countless times :atkCry: So I have been using GM8.0

I will post how to fix it then I guess.

Steps:
1. Install gamemaker 8.1
2. Press "windows key" + R to open "Run" window
(click to show/hide)
(or open Run window normally.)
3. put %appdata%\gamemaker and press enter, you should see this
(click to show/hide)
4. make a copy of "Rundata" file and put it in a seperate folder and keep a backup.
(click to show/hide)
5. when the error happens, copy the "rundata" file you have backed up in new folder.
and paste it into this main folder, overwriting the old one.
(click to show/hide)

I hope this helps. it is a little weird to do every time the error happens at first. but you get used to it and it only takes 5 seconds if you are fast ;3
