Hey all! :denMiku_v2:
Smoke the 42 is a game I made to get used to Gamemaker:Studio
It is kind of a meme game but not a silly troll game like Heart Goes On or Magical Journey
There are 9 Floors and 1 boss in this beta, but I plan to have at least 4 bosses
I am mainly looking for level design/boss feedback so there is no title screen or credits yet (pls forgive :BibleThump: )

I considered that, then realized that I didn't want to make 420 floors and no one wanted to play 420 floors

The difficulty ramped up pretty quick I should say; floor 2 is like 20ish difficulty, and the next room has a drop gate, and the next one is even harder.
I would change the up saves into either S saves or just shoot saves. Nerf floor 3 and 4 and 7, difficulty curve is messed up.

I didn't like any of the trolls, since they were pretty much at the end of a segment. Floor 8 was pretty boring, corridor design, avoid that.
I hated the pointless 5 seconds intro in the boss, the 2nd attack I found really confusing for like 10 mins, then I realized the window's border were the platforms, that's pretty dumb honestly... btw https://prntscr.com/81bph4 are they supposed to get stuck on the wall?

Ok so I didn't know how to save and just assumed I was and fluked the first 4 screens on my first go then died lol. Not a big fan of up saves, would suggest at least making some graphic to tell players that's how it works so people don't make the same mistakes as me. Also is there any reason why you have to do an awkward drop gate at the end of floor 3, and then don't even get a save at the beginning of floor 4? This is supposed to be the easiest difficulty haha. Save placement and difficulty need to rebalanced slightly imo. My only other criticism is that the death counter displays over the huge floor counter so it can be hard to read, the gui needs a little tidying up in this regard.

I liked the artwork and music, it was very charming (even though im not sure mushroom spikes would be sharp enough to kill haha). The little graphical effects like leaves (though I'd make the trees in the background brown to match) and the sparkles when you shoot invincible enemies are nice. It'll be nice to see where you go with this project :~)
