Title: Yume Nikki
Post by: GatoBot on January 25, 2016, 11:55:59 AM
Yume Nikki is a game where you explore the dreams of a girl named Madotsuki.
Fans has been making theories about the meaning of these dreams for years.
Is there any Yume Nikki fan in the community?

I have downloaded it a couple weeks ago, but I haven't started it yet, perhaps I should play it these days because I've heard it's "interesting".

Well, just keep in mind is not a conventional game, it can be really difficult to complete and looking about it on the internet can accidentally lead you to spoilers (because they are everywhere).

So, if you get stuck, ask me what to do, i'll help you the best way I can without giving spoilers :D

Yes, I am a big fan of the game. I tend to shrug off similar games as pretentious, edgy, etc., but Yume Nikki just doesn't make me think those things. It manages to give me feelings of eeriness and dread without relying on dialogue or jump scares. It's all from the enviroment and music. The fact that the author is M.I.A. and no one has heard from him in years also adds to the atmosphere for me. But it also sucks, because an update would be amazing.

I feel the same way, it's amazing how much the game tells without saying practically nothing. Nothing could hype me more than a new version, there are a lot of fangames and some of them are really good, but none of them can compare to the original in my opinion.

I heard kikiyama answered some mails back in 2011 before she disappeared from the internet, perhaps she wanted to make us think that she's gone to add more mystery to the game, but i dunno, a lot of things could have happened since then.

For me the strangest part is that no one seems to have an old version of the game, and the links are no longer available, which is really sad because an old version would be a totally amazing experience.

Its great but takes a long time to complete if you are playing it on your first playthrough. Since you need to get so many stuff in order to complete the game, it might take a few hours because of that. Atleast it has a save system.
