Title: Regarding LoveTrap True Final Boss
Post by: Starz0r on May 26, 2014, 09:37:31 PM
Does anyone believe that Giant Kid extra is actually humanly possible? They say the creator has done it but wouldn't that mean the game would have been beaten by now? I mean the guy who created LoveTrap may be some serious dude but he doesn't broadcast anywhere and he may not even stand up to today's top Iwanna players. The only clear video I have seen of Giant Kid extra is the TAS version. I hear stories about people coming close but seriously, how could have no one beaten it yet?

This game was made in late 2011,which is in early days of japanase fangames. That's why creator never communicates with us.He probably doesn't play I Wanna games anymore.

I just can't see anyone actually trying to give a shit about beating it since the game is so shitty. It's not worth it. The boss is bad.

There has been a rumor that Nekoron HAS beaten the 2nd giant kid, but I don't know if it's true or not.

This final boss fight i would actually say is really memorable. The game has that certain spark to it and very memorable bosses, like the first miku, 2 fangames i know of even followed down its path, which were I Wanna Be The Lunatic and I Wanna Be The WB, but on to the point.

Big kid is possible, we know this, people beat it, but Extra Big Kid, Nekoron claims he beat it, and he does not have proof of it, I don't know Nekoron so should I believe him? But why its impossible is because of 5 bound cherries flying around, the cherry speed is increased, and the bullet speed is increased, it's way too much to handle. The TAS of it kinda proves how hard it is right toward the end of the fight, or is it possible that this fight was meant as a little trial thing where you beat your high score.

I think the best way to find out more is to ask someone who has been in the Japanese community since Charr was released since Nekoron was still around i think, Something to do for yourself though, I don't really have many connections there.

Have you even seen the boss? It's not even close to being possible

Its possible imo, the thing with it is that nobody has really practiced the later attacks. the japanese community tends to just attack the boss with brute force, same as the first kid. It can take hundreds of hours to even beat the first kid this way.

The highest I have seen done this way on the second kid is 93/127 hits.

LoveTrap was released in early 2010, and updated through early 2011. The readme is very thorough and details a lot of information about the game including its version history ("1.03: Introduction of BGM of a boss was too long, add a skip function. You can press the S key during prelude." lol) and plot ("Story: no").

The design of giant Kid fight is ingenious, in my opinion. There is a ton of pattern recognition and strategy that is involved, which seems surprising considering how much the boss is based in randomness. The more you play this boss, the more you realize there is virtually no situation that isn't possible for an adequately skilled player. You go from saying "That situation was impossible!" to "Oh crap, I see what I should have done there" to finally developing a maneuver out of the situation in question. Any combination is a pattern that can be learned. This is the basis of the fight: learning how to overcome simple patterns at increasing speeds under the restraint of hopping between water bullets.

I have long stated that there is no other video game boss with the difficulty of the second Kid without resorting to bullshit design (like covering the screen in absurd amounts of bullet hell, which is the go-to for high level challenge). Sure Happil 2 is hilarious and fun to watch, but as a serious high-level challenge it's obviously pure bullshit.

Anyway, I agree with Lemon that the second Kid is beatable with hundreds of hours of practice using savestates to learn the strategy at each segment of the battle (the strategies change significantly as the apples gain speed, even within a single phase of the battle). I'm undecided on whether Nekoron is telling the truth, but I'm inclined to believe him as the design of his games suggests to me that he is a very serious gamer who puts incredible effort into creating and testing challenges. Should we try probing him further (how long did it take, his approach to practice, etc.)? If he's still active online, Nekoron's email address seems to be ねころんにじゅうはちあっとまーくほっとめーるどっとしーおーどっとじぇーぴー (I have no idea how Japanese email works at all).

ねころんにじゅうはちあっとまーくほっとめーるどっとしーおーどっとじぇーぴー
I don't know much Japannese but I think this is a transliteration
So I think the mail address should be "nekoronnijuhachi@hotmail.co.jp" or "nekoron28@hotmail.co.jp" or something like that
