Title: The Kid? Why not The Lad?

Sometimes I'm curious, why The Lad of I Wanna Be The Guy Gaiden is never used and has no engine.
It would be nice to play with The Lad.

Think about what games we're creating. We create fangames of IWBTG, not of IWBTG: Gaiden. So it makes the Kid the logical choice, as the Lad has nothing to do with the original IWBTG.

But IWBTG:G is the upgrading of the original IWBTG?

Someone made an engine at some point which improved on every mechanic from Gaiden.
It never really caught on, but I wish it had because you could do some really fun stuff with it.
